If you're in the market for a new family luxury SUV, the 2024 Cadillac XT6 and Acura MDX may have crossed your mind. These three-row crossovers offer upscale experiences with good overall value. Let's see how the Cadillac XT6 and Acura MDX compare.
Cadillac
The MDX Is More Expensive Than the XT6
The Cadillac XT6 comes in three trim levels. The Luxury base trim starts at about $50,000. In the middle is the Premium Luxury, which starts at about $56,000. The top-of-the-line XT6 Sport has a base price of around $62,000. All-wheel drive (AWD) is a $2,000 option on the Luxury and Premium Luxury trims but comes standard on the Sport trim.
Acura
The 2024 Acura MDX starts at about $51,000. A nicely optioned MDX A-Spec, which sits in the middle of the pack, starts at about $62,000. At the top of the lineup is the performance- and tech-oriented Type S Advance, which starts at $75,000. Adding AWD is an additional $2,200, though it comes standard on A-Spec, Advance, and Type S models.

The XT6 Offers Super Cruise
The Acura MDX offers the performance-oriented Type S model, which puts out 355 horsepower with its turbocharged six-cylinder and tacks on additional performance parts. The Cadillac XT6 doesn't provide a powertrain on par with the MDX Type S, though the Sport model has some added performance benefits compared with the rest of the XT6 lineup.
The MDX gets a 12.3-inch widescreen infotainment screen but uses a touchpad as its primary controller. The XT6's infotainment display measures 8.0 inches and features a touchscreen interface.
Cadillac
The XT6 can be optioned with General Motors' Super Cruise hands-free semi-autonomous driving feature, capable of piloting the vehicle on compatible roads for buyers who pay a monthly subscription fee.
The MDX can be optioned with Acura's high-end ELS Studio 3D premium audio system with as many as 25 speakers. The XT6's Bose system tops out at 14 speakers.
The XT6 comes standard with seating for seven but offers optional second-row captain's chairs that reduce capacity to six. Every MDX has room for seven but features a removable second-row middle seat, creating on-demand captain's chairs.
The two vehicles are virtually the same length, but the MDX offers more cargo volume behind its third row, 16.3 cubic-feet, compared to the XT6's 12.6 cu-ft. Fold the third rows down, and the XT6 has the edge, with 43.1 cu-ft to the MDX's 39.1.

The XT6 and MDX Have Similar Fuel Economy Ratings
The Cadillac XT6 comes with two engine options. The base engine is a 237-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder. With front-wheel drive (FWD), it gets 21/27/23 mpg city/highway/combined on the EPA tests, while the AWD comes in at 21/26/23 mpg. With the optional engine upgrade, the XT6 gets a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6, which returns 19/26/21 mpg with FWD and 18/25/21 mpg with AWD.
Acura
The base Acura MDX uses a 290-hp non-turbo 3.5-liter V6. This powertrain returns 19/26/21 mpg with FWD, while AWD models see 19/25/21 mpg. The performance-oriented MDX Type-S, which packs a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, delivers 17/21/19 mpg.
