Compared: 2024 Buick Envista vs. 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer
Between these two subcompact SUVs, it might come down to cargo space.
Buick | Chevrolet
The 2024 Envista is an all-new model for Buick, serving as the brand's entry-level offering. A subcompact crossover, the Envista has a low starting price and comes exclusively with front-wheel drive (FWD). The new Envista is comparable to one of General Motors' other subcompact SUVs, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, in terms of price and fuel economy, but the Buick is lacking in cargo space.

Buick and Chevrolet Subcompact SUVs Match Closely in Price
Offered in three trim levels, the 2024 Buick Envista starts at more than $23,000 for the base Preferred trim and just below $30,000 in top-of-the-line Avenir form. The Envista comes exclusively with FWD; all-wheel drive (AWD) isn't on the options list.
The 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer comes in four trim levels and with two powertrains. Like the Envista, the Trailblazer comes with standard FWD. Unlike the Buick, however, the Trailblazer offers AWD as an optional extra. The Trailblazer LS model with FWD starts around $25,000. Checking the box for optional AWD adds about $1,600 to the price. The numbers climb from there, and it costs just under $30,000 for a Trailblazer AWD RS.

The Trailblazer Has More Cargo Space Than the Envista
The 2024 Buick Envista is more than 8 inches longer than the Trailblazer, but the two vehicles are within an inch of each other in second-row legroom. The Chevrolet Trailblazer has more cargo volume: 25.3 cubic-feet to the Envista's 20.7 cu-ft. Fold the second row down and the disparity grows, with the Trailblazer offering 54.3 cu-ft to the Envista's 42. Some of that disparity is likely due to the Envista's swoopy design; the Trailblazer, in comparison, has a boxier and more upright look.
Though Buick models are traditionally marketed as being more premium than their Chevrolet counterparts, the Trailblazer is more generous with features. It can be optioned with a large panoramic moonroof, while the Envista is limited to a smaller moonroof design. Ten airbags come standard in the Trailblazer, whereas the Envista has just six.

Fuel-Economy Figures Are Comparable
With its standard 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission, the base Buick Envista makes 137 horsepower and returns 28/32/30 mpg city/highway/combined.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer offers two engine choices. The engine in FWD LS and LT trims is a turbocharged 1.2-liter unit that makes 137 horsepower as well. Activ and RS models, which can be had with either FWD or AWD, get a turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower. The FWD models use a continuously variable automatic transmission while AWD models get a nine-speed automatic.
The EPA hasn't released figures on fuel economy for the Trailblazer equipped with the 1.2-liter engine. Trailblazer models with FWD and the 1.3-liter engine are rated for 29/33/31 mpg, and AWD models get 26/29/27 mpg.
