A complete redesign positions the SUV as a relevant player in the midsize crossover segment.

Shop for a three-row midsize crossover SUV, and you'll find countless options. Among them is the second-generation GMC Acadia, which has not been a leading contender. However, GMC may shake things up with a completely redesigned 2024 Acadia featuring fresh styling, a revised trim lineup, additional standard features, greater seating and cargo capacity, an infusion of infotainment and safety upgrades, and more power and capability.

2024 GMC Acadia Redesign
In keeping with other GMC models, the 2024 Acadia now greets the world with vertical LED strips along the outer edge of the headlights. In addition to the restyled front end, new taillights accentuate the rear end, a wide rear roof pillar halves the size of the back side glass, and noticeable creases in the flanks give the Acadia more visual character. Overall, the look is more rugged and refined than before.

2024 GMC Acadia Trims
For 2024, GMC has tweaked the Acadia lineup. The offroad-oriented AT4 and luxurious Denali return, but the lower SLE and SLT trims are history. In their place are a new Elevation model serving as the Acadia's entry point and an Elevation Premium variant upgraded with a standard 12-speaker Bose audio system, sliding second-row captain's chairs, and optional Super Cruise.

2024 GMC Acadia Exterior Specs
Photos make it difficult to appreciate how much the GMC Acadia has grown for 2024. Compared to the old model, it is 10.6 inches longer and 3.2 inches wider. GMC says the 2024 Acadia is also taller, though the company has not released a height specification.

2024 GMC Acadia Interior Specs
Even at a glance, it's hard to miss the new technology available with the 2024 Acadia. Most apparent is the 15.0-inch infotainment screen that's now standard across the lineup. GMC describes this as "portrait oriented," meaning it is taller than it is wide.
Other upgrades include an 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster, a larger head-up display, Google built-in compatibility, up to nine exterior camera views, and the latest version of Super Cruise. That semi-autonomous self-driving system, offered for the first time on the Acadia, now incorporates trailering assist and lane-change functionality.
GMC
In addition to being more upscale and home to various technological enhancements, the 2024 GMC Acadia's interior is more spacious thanks to the crossover's stretched exterior dimensions. A new third-row seat increases maximum seating capacity from seven to eight passengers, and GMC claims front legroom is now best in class. Equally impressive, the cargo room has increased by 24 percent, much of which comes from an expanded area behind the third row.

2024 GMC Acadia AT4
In recent years, GMC has affixed the AT4 badge to models purpose-built for more adventurous travel. The 2024 Acadia AT4 sports more than rugged tires, red tow hooks, and quad exhaust tips to earn this distinction. Behind the scenes is an off-road-tuned suspension that increases the ride height by an inch and an AWD system specifically engineered to deliver sure-footed capability when you venture beyond paved roads.

2024 GMC Acadia Denali
The Denali continues as the top-of-the-line GMC Acadia with a broader array of standard and unique features. Among the highlights are one-touch folding second-row seats, a power-folding third-row bench seat, a 16-speaker Bose audio system, perforated leather upholstery, and a panoramic sunroof. New 22-inch alloy wheels are also available, larger than any wheel previously offered with the Acadia.

2024 GMC Acadia Engine
One of the GMC Acadia's most significant changes resides under the hood. Depending on the configuration, the previous model came equipped with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 228 horsepower or a 310-hp V6. For 2024, all Acadias will feature the same engine: a 2.5-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque.
GMC
2024 GMC Acadia Towing Capacity
The new Acadia delivers more capability thanks to its more powerful standard engine. Last year's model offered a maximum towing rating of 4,000 pounds, while the 2024 model boasts a 5,000-pound towing capacity. That's not pickup truck territory, but it should be plenty for hauling a small camper or a couple of Jet Skis to a weekend destination, for example.

Where Is the 2024 GMC Acadia Made?
GMC built the outgoing 2023 GMC Acadia in Spring Hill, Tennessee. When the 2024 Acadia goes into production, assembly will shift to the General Motors Lansing Delta Township factory in Michigan. The same plant produces the Buick Enclave with redesigns for 2025 and the Chevrolet Traverse, which also gets a redesign for 2024.

What Is the 2024 GMC Acadia Release Date?
GMC's website currently provides abundant information and photos marking the debut of the all-new Acadia. Still, you can't yet see full details or configure the model to your specifications.
GMC says its redesigned midsize crossover will arrive on dealers' lots in early 2024. That should provide plenty of time for those in northern states to put the Acadia's AWD system to the test before warm weather returns.

Everyone needs a few things to be passionate about in life. For me, cars are near the top of the list. I’m constantly searching the classifieds for that bargain-priced, one-owner Datsun 240Z barn find. I’m always up for seemingly endless conversations about the cars we wish our parents had kept, the benefits of EVs versus the lure of a thumping V8, or which reliable crossover SUV best suits your family and your dogs. Needless to say, I feel fortunate to spend my work hours analyzing vehicle data, test-driving the latest all-new or updated models, and sharing the knowledge and insights I’ve gained with readers.
