Editors' Notes

The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is an all-electric version of the luxury brand’s midsize sedan. It touts eye-pleasing design, many standard features, and potent yet comfortable driving manners. As a single-trim model loaded with the goods, the Electrified G80 has a starting price of $79,825.

The Electrified G80 is the second all-electric vehicle from Genesis and follows on the heels of the all-new Genesis GV60 SUV. While the GV60 is an all-new model and only available as an electric, the Electrified G80 is the battery-powered sibling to the standard G80 (reviewed separately).

The Electrified G80 offers the choice of exactly one trim. The good news is that the single trim comes exceptionally well equipped, packed with everything from a massaging driver’s seat to a full suite of advanced safety features and driving aids.

The Electrified G80 also comes standard with all-wheel drive (AWD) and is juiced by two motors that build 365 horsepower and a substantial 516 lb-ft of torque. Total range pegs at 282 miles. That’s commendable, though notably less than what you’d get in a Tesla Model S. Then again, we expect the Electrified G80 to cost considerably less than a Tesla, likely around $70,000 when it arrives in late summer or early fall of 2022.

To buy one initially, you’ll have to live in California, New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut. Sales in four additional states, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and Washington, begin in September.

Pros

  • Loaded with luxurious features
  • Lots of tech and safety systems
  • Standard all-wheel drive

Cons

  • Offered in one trim only
  • Range doesn’t break 300-mile barrier
  • Available only in eight states (starting in September)
